Adjustment - OnField

  • This is where your pre-field cultural training will even more come in handy, as you address symptoms of culture shock.
  • With a new language to learn it is easy to feel like a ‘baby’ again and making simple mistakes in communication can knock your self-esteem. So many differences can leave you feeling very ‘lost’ in the new culture. You must give yourself TIME to adjust.
  • Remember that reaching the worst depths of culture shock is actually a sign of finally letting go of your culture of origin and starting to adjust fully to the new culture.
  • Do keep in touch with supporters back home and be honest about what you need prayer for!
