Orientation - OnField

  • After recovering from the exhaustion of your preparation and travel, you may enter something of a ‘honeymoon’ season as you explore your new life.
  • You’ll need to address all the practical issues of living arrangements, registering with authorities, bills, internet, bank accounts, enrolling in language classes, and so much more! Very soon the ‘honeymoon’ will be over!
  • You will need some orientation to the culture you have landed in! If your agency has not arranged this for you, it is important to look for a ‘culture mentor’ in the local community.
  • Expect times of homesickness.
