hello world!

What do you want Jesus to do for you? | Mark 10:46-52

After many months away from Taiwan, Ross Paterson returns to The Hope Church in Taiwan to preach on the topic of 'What do you want Jesus to do for you?' from Mark 10: 46-52.

46 Then they came to Jericho. As Jesus and his disciples, together with a large crowd, were leaving the city, a blind man, Bartimaeus (which means “son of Timaeus”), was sitting by the roadside begging. 47 When he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”

48 Many rebuked him and told him to be quiet, but he shouted all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”

49 Jesus stopped and said, “Call him.”

So they called to the blind man, “Cheer up! On your feet! He’s calling you.” 50 Throwing his cloak aside, he jumped to his feet and came to Jesus.

51 “What do you want me to do for you?” Jesus asked him.

The blind man said, “Rabbi, I want to see.”

52 “Go,” said Jesus, “your faith has healed you.” Immediately he received his sight and followed Jesus along the road.

    1. Dear Ross - thank you for modelling the way for us. Paul said 'be imitators of me be, as I am of Christ' (1 Cor 11:1). In today's secular and increasingly corrupt and deviant world, we so desperately need men of women of integrity who will show us how to walk by faith, keeping our eyes fixed on the author and perfector of our faith.

Thank you for this message and the 5-steps you laid out. You illustrated them clearly, making them easy for us to grasp; they are of course less easy to follow as we all contend with the flesh that holds us back. Choosing to go my way or His way is the test. CS Lewis wrote that everyone has to answer the question: 'what will I do with Jesus?'

And, on the issue , which you shared so openly, that many Christians accept Him as saviour but hold back on accepting Him as Lord, and thus lose the blessings that follow, gives us cause to examine ourselves.

Thank you for speaking the truth boldly, and in a manner that even the weaker brother (or sister) can grasp. The Lord bless you
